Hello all,
I recently had someone interested in reading a script of mine however before I send it to him I need to get it copyrighted. How do I do this. Any suggestions helpful, predominatley ones that will stand up in court. Thanks

You do not. Anything that is your own personal original creation is copyrighted to you. You may sell, give, waver the copyright, but you cannot make it go away until around 70 years after the day of your death. If you are the Disney corporation you might be able to extend the 70 years so your heirs can live a life of reilly on your efforts.
If you do not want to be ripped off, and this is not likely, then deposit an original copy with a lawyer or someone similar. Most people are desperate to get somewhere with their efforts. If you do make the big time just read the samll print.

Post it to yourself in a sealed envelope and don't open it when it arrives, keep it in a safe place and never break that seal. The post mark will act as proof that you wrote it on or more likely before that date.
I'm not sure if this is the solidest way to go, but it may work informally.
A lawyer is the best bet, if you want to spend the money.

The posting it to yourself has proven to be a bit flimsy, Raindance to a script registration service - head on over to www.raindance.co.uk
